RE: Whats a good sim
To answer your question, yes, the G2 is a fine simulator and for $75 (if it is complete) it sounds like a good deal!

RE: Whats a good sim
I owned G2 for about 6 months. I thought it was a great sim. Lately I've been looking into other sims and I stumbled upon Aerofly Pro Deluxe. After watching all the videos, looking at all the screenshots, and reading reviews about it.... I've just sold my G2 along with ADDON 1 on that auction site that we're not supposed to talk about. I have me a new copy of AFPD on the way!
With AFPD, you don't have to pay for the extra flying sites and planes. They are all free downloads. Unlike G2, which you have to pay $30 for each addon. And the graphics compared to G2 are just outstanding. Check out some of the screenshots www.aeroflypro.com. G2 looks like a cartoon compared to AFPD. As far as flight physics. I don't think they are even comparable. Granted, I haven't play AFPD yet... But I have played G2. And in G2 you can't do any 3D manuevers at all. It looks like AFPD is much much better than G2. From watching the vids of AFPD, the physics blow G2 away. BUT!!! $75 is a decent price for a decent sim. G2 sure beats FMS! Man i can't wait for AFPD to arrive. Being simulatorless sucks! Dan |
RE: Whats a good sim
I would suggest downloading FMS for free and try it. Then you will get an idea of what its about. If you just want to learn the controls its a great sim. There are dozens of planes on the net that you can download for free. [8D]

RE: Whats a good sim
I have both G2 and AFPD (AeroFlight Professional Deluxe). They both have their pluses and minuses however, my persional opinion is that AFPD is superior. Physics and realism are the key to that. G2 is good but there were some issues with it that I noted as the AFPD being superior. Just my opinion, as I said, I have both so can compare.

ORIGINAL: Fastsky I would suggest downloading FMS for free and try it. Then you will get an idea of what its about. If you just want to learn the controls its a great sim. There are dozens of planes on the net that you can download for free. [8D] you can get FMS here... [link]http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html[/link] and you can get a TON of free planes with this downloader utility... [link]http://www.tti-us.com/sim/dlmgr.html[/link] The only problems I have had are with using downloaded scenery, some hang up the program... It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of the $$$ sims, but it is the best intro to the rc flight sim genre... and it's freeware. there are also USB interfaces for using your transmitter with FMS available here [link]http://www.tti-us.com/sim/products.html[/link] I plan on picking up one of these when I get my 9caps next week. :-) |
