A good simulator?

Hello,

I just joined my local RC club and a guy made me an offer that he would sell me his David Brown RCFS 2001 Flight Simulator for $20 including the transmiter and everything. I know that it's a good buy and I'm getting it for sure, but how good is it? I was just wondering!:D

I know nothing about it but for 20$ what do you expect. For all I know it could be top of the line so dont take me to serously.

It was a good sim IN ITS DAY.

IMHO, The 2 best sims out there today are RealFlight G3 and AeroFly Pro. Both have their strong points and weak points.

I feel the planes in G3 fly much closer to what the actual model does than in AeroFly. On the other hand the graphics are much better in AeroFly than in G3.

As I said, both are good and both have positive and negative aspects to them.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this deal. The Dave Brown 2001 is a decent simulator, much better than FMS, and the controller alone is worth the $20 asking price. It will definitely help you in practicing maneuvers that your instructor teaches you. It will help with your coordination of the reversed controls when the model is approaching. It is not nearly as good as G3, AFPD, or Reflex but neither does it cost $200. I say go for it.

RE: A good simulator?

I have that sim, and used it to learn lots of good stuff. When I got to the field and tried those things (ordinary flying, inverted flight, 4-point rolls, rolling circles....) everything worked just about like on the sim.

Make sure he's got the key code, when you install you have to enter the code. Mine's on a sticker on the jewel case, and I wrote it in Sharpie on the plastic, just in case it fades.

Best wishes,
Dave Olson
