Well, it happened again.....
 

Went to the field to fly, came home with an extra airplane. A casual compliment led to a casual conversation that turned serious. The real problems came when I tried to stuff this monster into the car to take it home, I sweat it didn't look that large on the ramp....

Anyway it's a Goldberg Sukhoi 120 size, the kit version. And let me say, it is one of the nicest flying planes I've ever grabbed the sticks of. I could barely get it to stall, much less snap. Of course the CG is foward, that might change when it gets moved backwards. But if any of you are thinking of making the move into larger scale planes, you might want to consider the CG suklhoi. The plane had standard servos in it, and got along nicely with a Saito 120. Slows down to a near crawl, three point landings were very easy. Sure it needs recovering, and some stuff isn't quite up to my exacting standards, but I'll get it there soon. Man. I gotta make some room in the hangar.....

Andy do you actually have any room for more planes at home? everytime you go to the field you or LHS you go home with something new. I would love to own a sukhoi. maybe i should mov lole and fly at your field and maybe i would go home with a bargin lol

I'd say that the Sukhoi is one of Goldberg's best, but I have to say that I don't think there's a single dog in the entire Goldberg line. My brother has the Sukhoi with a YS 140 - Now THAT'S a fun combo!

Funny how that works out.... I made a resolution that I wasn't going to buy another plane untill I get retired and settled in a Civ. job. And wouldn't ya know, the Twinstar comes back out, H9 is releasing a P-40, looked at a ducted fan....... <sigh>. So many planes, so little time.

I also have one and stuffed a Zenoah G26 converted to electronic ign turning a 18X6 Mejzlik prop on an abell muffler. What a great combo. Due to noise limites where I fly I'll replace the muffler with a little quieter one but [X(]

Andy, I'm starting to see a pattern here. You are a very sick man. The way I see it, you have two choices: Either get started in a 12-step program, or just accept the fact that you will never be rich, as all of your hard-earned dollars will be going to Hobby Shop owners.

Minn, there's hope for me yet! Our club had it's annual auction last night, and although there were SEVERAL airplanes there that really caught my eye, I managed to pass on ALL of them.

Well, just to show you you're not alone, I went to an auction 2 weeks ago. And wasn't planning on spending on spending anything. I left a LOT poorer than I came. :D

I know the feeling well...

I heard Wildhare was doing an Ultimate this year, so you guessed it. I just had to go an place an order and I got all other the needed items to go with it and now I'm also allot poorer but much happier knowing my bipe withdrawl syptoms are going to go away:D

It's not so much that I spend $300 or so on a second hand airplane. It's that other $100 or so that I wind up spending fixing what's wrong and making things "my" way. And the Sukhoi actually was closer to $200, but I needed a receiver, and wasn't happy with standard servos on the rudder and elevator. I put Hitec 635's, I think they were, the karbonite geared monsters on. Nice solid little pieces of work, they really look and feel high quality. You can fan yourself with the rudder and elevator now. Not to mention a voltwatch, a bigger fuel tank (it had a 12 ouncer in it, I went to 16), and I'm still not done because it's gonna need to be recovered. But it's worth it......

BTW, anybody in the market for a second hand warbird? Might be having a "Crazy Andy's Closeout" sale here when I go all .60 size or bigger.....
