Q
what prop is better?
Wooden or APC |
RE: Q
That depends on what you are doing, what type of plane you flying, what type of flying, type of field, your experience level..........

RE: Q
Lets see...
APC fairly quiet and very efficent but somewhat heavy and can be slow to spool up not to expensive Wooden Props: Zinger, nice and light, noisy, inefficent (inexpensive) Bambula, nice and light and efficent (Mid priced) Bolly, nice and light and very effcient (Mid priced) Menz, nice and light but somewhat expensive I won't even get into Carbon Fiber props for cost reasons but oh do they look good. :D |
RE: Q
One more factor is that wood props break a little easier then apc. If you are just learning a few apc last longer then the wood props. When I was learning to land I went through at least 3 wood props a day until I started using apc. The apc props also cut you easier then a wood prop.

RE: Q
I'm an instructor at our field and I usually tell my students to stay away from the wood and APC props while they are learning. The wood props shatter as soon as the touch the runway (we fly off of an asphalt runway), and the APC props are stiff too and don't slow down the plane as well. I tell them to use a Master Airscrew. MA props are very forgiving when they are handled roughly.
