Field Box please help
Hey,
I am having a little trouble. This may seem like a silly question but its getting me frustrated and I cant really figure it out. question one. I bought the master caddy and the delux power panel. The delux power panel does not fit in the whole of the master caddy, is there something that i'm doing wrong? question two. How do I charge the 12V battery thats inside the mastercaddy. Do i transform the charger for the 12V from aligator clips to banana clips and charge it somehow through the power panel? Please help. Thank you advance. |
RE: Field Box please help
you might want to sand around the edges of the hole where you put your power panel in. I had to do that with mine. You can just leave your 12V battery inside and use the banana clips to charge the battery. Plug them thru the starter port

I'm not familer with that caddy, but it wouldn't be uncommon to have to cut the hole larger to accomidate a larger panel... I'm sure the manufacture would cut the hole as small as possible... You can always make it bigger... Much harder to make it smaller... ;)
As for charging, yes, the "starter" jacks on the panel will tie straight through to your battery... That's where you'll charge it from. |

Thank you guys very much, Yes it definitly needs cutting. Now i'm happy :D

Just make sure that the positive + lead on the charger goes to the red lead of the starter connection. The negative - lead goes to the black lead. Bad news to cross them![8D]

Fastsky,
You must like those SK80s. What can you say about them compared to other engines you have owned? |
RE: Field Box please help
Here's a question. The power panel has aligator clips which connect to the battery. Should I take off the aligator clips and solder it on to the battery? cause once u close the box you cant really get to the battery if the aligator clips get lose.

If it was me i would soldier the leds on and i also would
put a 20amp inline fuse on the + wire. Providing that you are using a dry/gel cell battery. If your using a motorcycle type battetry i would soldier connectors to the wires. |
RE: Field Box please help
Ed, I bought the SK 80s because the price was right and they are supposed to be an improved version of the World models Tiger Shark engines. I have a Tiger Shark 75 and really like it. As far as performance goes, I have the engines sitting in the planes but haven't been able to get to my field this year to try them. I will do a write up when I have had a chance to try them out.
