I keep having flame outs Im useing 25 % nitro 20 % oil Evo 61 farely new engine 6- 7 flights will this work ? or am I useing the wrong fuel the guys at the flying field dont have much to say about it either way just wondering , Thanks , MIke

Hey gitter,

You are using pretty high nitro content. I would reduce it to 5- 15% nitro. The oil content is fine. I don't think it is the fuel you are using.

25% is a lot of nitro for a 2-stroke. While it may be possible to tune that engine for that amount of nitro, it's just not necessary and a waste of $$$. Try 10% or 15% at the most. Your flame outs may be from over heating due to the high nitro or they may be simply due to the engine not being tuned correctly. Those engines are supposed to be tuned right out of the box but I don't see how they could be pre-tuned to run on anything from 10% to 30% nitro without adjusting the needles. There could be several other reasons for the flame outs, but at any rate, drop the nitro content and go from there.

10-15% nitro would be a good starting point. Why did you use such high nitro?

I agree, the 25% could very well be causing the engine to overheat and quit. You can try richening the mixture to keep the engine running cooler or switch to lower nitro.

Mine was just the opposite. The low speed idle was open so much that fuel was sputtering out the top of carb at idle. If you have some experienced flyers around, ask them if they wouldn't mind checking the settings on the engine. They may be way out! I agree with the others on the fuel. High nito fuel is usually used for very small engines. I think your engine will overheat and die with that fuel so that doesn't help your engine. I would switch to 10% or 15% at the most. I only buy fuel that has 10% because I have some engines that don't like to run over that. [8D]
