Well, I'm getting it this weekend.
 

Now that payday has arrived, it's time to buy the used Midstar.... He's also gonna lend me his copy of Realflight G2. Should be better than FMS.

Still haven't found a deal on a trainer airframe, so I'm gonna practice like crazy on the sim and then find an instructor.

Figure I'll use the sim for a couple weeks and then head out to the field and find someone to give me a hand.

You will find the sim very useful. G2 has a 'virtual instructor' that you can select from a menu. That will show you a transmitter with the airplane. The stick move according to how the 'virtual instructor' uses them to make the plane do various functions. Very useful. The first thing you will have to do is figure out the orientation for landing. Get used to the background and where the 'virtual instructor' puts the aircraft on approach particularly during base, and final. After you get the idea, then try it yourself. Do this over and over again until you have it down then do it more. You won't believe how much this will help when you go out to the field and do the real thing.... with an instructor, hopefully on a buddy box.

wraith, my instructor lent me G2 also. It is a very good simulator. The only bad habbits it taught me is that i was flaring way too high. Also, finding the runway when your flying is very hard. use F1 and F2 to zoom in and out. Also, i used the pt-40 most of the time, but reccoment the pt40 with a 56 size engine.

Hey Good luck buddy and happy b-day, Back in 97 I finished my 1st airplane it was a sig lt-40,
I've always been interested in airplanes. during the build I went down to the flying field and when our instructor showed up He'd let me try the club trainer. It was alot harder than I thought. I was so frustrated sometimes I'd show up and he wouldn't have the trainer. Anyway I discovered tower hobbies and got the first Great palne Real flight and was on the thing all the time., keep in mind at this time my plane wasn't done. Anyway as I practiced and practiced. I finally finished my Plane.

Then came the day I took my own plane out to the flying field, I waited and waited for our instructor to show so I could hook my radio up to his buddy box. well after an hour not only did he not show up no one showed up, so I thought oh well I'll start it, Then I thought well I'l taxi it on low throttle.
Well I got taxiing abit to quick and just said screw it and I took off. What a thrill!!!!!! My Plane I built myself and I'm flying. The thing was that it was alot easier to fly the real thing than the flight sim. That was more thrilling Than my first solo in a cessna. What I'm getting at is the flight sim is awesome and has a flight instructor so practice and get help from a real instructor and enjoy this awesome hobby and don't worry about the Ex-girlfriend, Hey you should see the look on some of the girls I've dated when they walk in my place and see my Planes.
