What I want for a second plane.
1 Attachment(s)
Sitting at work, bored out of my mind and thinking about planes. Got out MS Paint and drew a picture of what I want for a second plane. Granted, a second plane is quite a ways off, but has anybody ever seen a kit or ARF (preferably kit) that looks similar to what I came up with?

Thunder Tiger makes a Cloud Dancer ARF that is similar to your drawing and it is a fantastic airplane.

Just to clarify: I don't mind modifying a current kit, but the less I have to change it, the better. :D

Looks like a Top Flite R/C Nobler to me. They are on sale at tower right now too.

Couple of different ideas on the wing.
First one's just fatter, second one I added a sweep on the TE. Did I mention I'm bored? |

Hmm.... Looks like I may have accidentally re-invented the P-40.
Or maybe the ******* lovechiled of a P-40 and a Spitfire. :D With a P-51 somewhere up the family tree for good measure? ;) |
RE: What I want for a second plane.
Both the Spit & P-40 look great --- ooops, so do yours;)

Wraith,
Just a couple of suggestions because it's what you're considering as a second plane. You should use a thicker airfoil. It'll provide more lift, more drag, and result in a plane that will fly slower, and more importantly, land slower. The second wing planform (with the tapered trailing edge) would also reduce the wing loading, and that would also help the flight characteristics for a newer pilot. Third, the nose may be a bit long which could make balancing a little tough. It might also be difficult to squeeze an engine in there. ;) Nice design though. Dennis- |

Sounds like i do in school. I have gotten some GREAT ideas from it though. You would be surprised what it can do

That's cool, it's kinda like a German fighter. I think the ME109??

Actually I like the longer nose. Most planes usually need nose weight to balance and if it is a bit nose heavy, it usually doesn't take much weight in the tail to balance compared to how much weight is usually needed in the nose. Since you are looking for a second plane type what do you think of this one? Its called a Rapture. [8D]

Actually, your drawings made me think of the BTE Venture 60. What do you think?

RE: What I want for a second plane.
I'd say it looks like a super sportster 40.

Nice design.
May I suggest when it comes to picking a second plane that you choose one that will allow you to advance your skills. Moving from a High wing trainer to a low wing sport type plane can be a large leap for some. Several planes that I have flown fit the bill rather well. 1. Tiger II 2. 4 Star 40 3. Super Sports 40 In my opinion all make forgiving flying/ Landing characterics yet when "unwound" perform very well. They also can be "reeled" fairly easily if you know what I mean;) |

Make that 2 votes for the Great Planes Rapture
