Aileron connection
 

Hi everyone,
I received the Kyosho Cap 232 ARF for Christmas. It is my first aerobatic plane, and my first plane with dual aileron servos. My question is, should I connect the two servos with a "Y" connector to one channel? Or connect them to two seperate channels and use the mixing feature of my Futaba 6EXA? Are there any other benefits to seperating them, other than being able to utilize flaperons?

It really just depends on what you want. If you want to be able to use the ailerons as flaps too (flaperons) then you should plug them into seperate channels. If you don't need or want flaps, then just use the Y connector.

The first benefit other than what you stated, that I can think of for using 2 channels, is the ability to have aileron diffierntial. This can help give the plane a more axial roll which simply menas the plane rolls in a straight line for a longer time which raising or dropping the nose, besides it just plain looks better. Most Cap232's have a good axial roll anyway, but I am not familiar with yours.

Spoilerons is another thing that can be done.

I just remembered about the differential and was going to add that but bubbagates already did. Although, while you can use different channels to program in differential, you can also reposition the control arm on the servo to provide mechnical differential and still use the Y harness.

Thank you all. I am planning to fly it for the first time if not this afternoon, on saturday for sure. I have the "Y" harness in it and will determine if I need aileron differential or a slower stall speed after I fly and land.
