Newbie strikes again
 

Hi
Ive sorted my fuel tank issue out but i was wondering if anyone could give me advice on an engine i have, it is a MDS 48 which i believe is a 2 stroke is this engine still suitable for a Trainer 40 ?

And i have noticed on it that the plug from the carburettor to the tank is positioned so that the piping touches the engine block. Is there a risk of this piping melting and if so what are the possible consequences

Your engine should be fine in a standard .40 trainer.

The silicone tube won't melt by just touching the crankcase of the engine, maybe if if was in direct contact with the cylinder head. It might get worn down by vibrations though, try to avoid contact if you can, but its not a big deal if you keep an eye on it and change it before it starts to leak. The consequence is that the engine stops and you spill fuel all over the plane, it won't catch fire or anything worse.

Westy, that 48 is plenty fine for a Trainer 40. The silicone tubing touching the engine shouldn't hurt a thing. If it can survive being connected right to the muffler, the engine case or cylinder will seem cool by comparison. I believe the head is the hottest part of an engine, so try to keep it off there. Beaten by mailman13 by 22 seconds. Gettin' slow I guess.

As others has said that 48 will give you plenty of power. Probably makes the plane quit fast also.
