Hanger 9 XtraEasy2 engine size
Newbie needs to know. I recently purchased a new RTF Xtra Easy 2. No where in the instruction manual does it indicate the size of the Evolution engine. In reading a review on the model it was stated to be a 40 Evolution. While reading some threads others have referred to it as a 46. The castings do not indicate a size. The head has an alpha symbol but no other identifiers. This is a trainer engine with a flywheel and carb adjustment limiters. Can someone enlighten me as to what the engine size is and what two bladed prop. would be appropriate for it?

RE: Hanger 9 XtraEasy2 engine size
It's a .455 sized engine--a little different from evolutions true .46, but not much--pretty much the same output of power. Good engine--you'll like it!

He's right. It's the Evolution TPS (Trainer Power System) .455" glow engine. Mine runs great once I got to know it and tuned it. I also have an XE2 trainer.

The TPS has the same dimensions as the Magnum .46 and OS .46. They are all .455 cu in displacement. Good engine.

If you research the RC Reports magazine back issues you can find a test of that engine as well as the 36,40,46 and 100. The Trainer [.455] version had more power and was better mannered than the 46 version. APC 11x5 or 11x6 would be a good place to start for props.
