RE: School project budget plane
forgot to mention, a lot of people modify thier easy stars to put in a digital camera and take the nicest pictures. maybe you could include a shot of your neighborhood or something. that would be cool... but not really relevant to a senior project.

not the biggest fan of foamies... but for the application at hand that may not be a bad idea... and you wouldent need a feild and a trainer and a buddy box and all that fun stuff... but i still think it would be more meaning ful lto build an LT. it would only take like 20 hours or somthing... and youd have a sweet plane when your done. and even if you never fly it again you cna put it on the ceiling and say "man thats cool"

Since you are on RC universe anyway why not check out some of the videos of some electric powered planes on this site. At least it might give you an idea of how fast the planes will fly and how quick they turn. This might give you an idea of what to build or at least of which ones to avoid. Even in electrics there is quite a big difference in speed and response times. I have include the link below for quick look up. The J-3 Cub flys pretty frisky for an electric. The BeginAir is more laid back and easier to fly for a new flyer. The GWS Zero is an example of a very hot, very fast electric flyer. Not a good choice for a newbie!

RE: School project budget plane
maybe a little late on this but the Super star EP or Goldberg Electra arf would be possible candidates. easy to assemble & begginer friendly.booklets give good instructions esp. goldberg. you could study up on the charateristics of electric propulsion & its requirements. most people are mystified by electricity anyways so any paper about it is bound to impress a science teacher(provided you get the terms & theory right) as was suggested, you could have it flown by a experienced flyer& tape it. then present the report along with what you have learned from his assistance in learning to fly.id recommend HARRY HIGLEY'S BOOK entering electrics as a starting point. flying in front of any crowd unless your experienced is not a good idea. just too nerve racking& why embarass your self?
