wing hold down rods(need help quick!)
 

Hi. my aerobird had a small crash today, in result of a gust of wind. THe front wing hold down rod snaped. Do you have any suggestions on an alternative thing to hold down the wing?

for those of u who don't know, a hold down rod goes through the plane, and comes out on both sides : its where you attach the rubber bands,

If it's anything like my trainer, they're just dowels. Is this a correct assumption?

If you have access to any similar material, just remove the broken one and replace it. Use 30 min epoxy to secure the new one.

Those things are hard to break. Didi it break in the center or just off one end?

Oh,

I think a dowel will work until you get a new one. You may see if a plastic pen, like the cheap white bic or paper-mate seems strong enough.

You can replace it with a wooden dowel rod with no problems. That little of a plane doesn't have enough force to pull the wing hard enough to snap a wooden dowel. Just go to your LHS, local crafts store, wal-mart in the craft section, or Lowe's/Home Depot and buy a wooden dowel the same size as the one the broke. Cut it to length and glue it in place. It'll be fine.

Or use a bamboo skewer. You can buy a pack of 50 for about $2.00 ;)
