Trainer to carry extra weight
 

I'm in search of a good easy to fly trainer, or anything else, that can carry a camera (about 3 or 4 ounces). Provided I practice it with dummy weights It would need to fly reliably.

I was looking at foam, or those ready built cover foam ones, like a crazy max I had a while ago.

Any good planes for this? Could be nitro or electric.

i dont no about foam... ima a balsa person myself... *notes name* yup... anyway... as always i feel the solution to your problem would be a SIG kated LT 40 ull have NO problem lofting that camera up there... and its an easy build (also comes in an arf...[:'(])

I know, but in this forum the topic is the issue of weight. I'll leave it till later to get into the camera stuff.

Yeah, the kadet looks like a good choice, I overlooked it thinking it was all balsa.

A Tower Trainer ARF would be easy to assemble and fly, doesn't cost much, and would have no trouble with an extra 3 to 4 ounces. However, it too is made from wood. Is there a reason you want foam?

No, I just figured that a foamy would be easier to put together. Is the kadet solid balsa, or it it a covered frame? I don't realy know what it's going to look like under the covering.

I wouldn't think that a frame couldn't handle pilot errors, but a solid one could.

Most people who learn to fly glow do so with a balsa framed plane. You will find some who learn with plastic based designs, called SPAD, and perhaps some who learn with foam planes. Learning with an instructor keeps most students out of trouble. Something to remember is that a plane should be built to fly well. Trying to build one that's crash proof often creates a self fulfilling prophecy. The extra weight to crash proof the plane makes it not fly well, which leads to the crash. Better to get one that flies well and learn from an instructor.

I forgot to add, today's ARF trainers are designed to be easy to assemble. Stick with a plane from major brand, Tower, Hobbico, Sig, Hangar 9, World Models, Great Planes, etc and you won't go wrong.
