WHAT DO THE NUMBERS ON THE PROP STAND FOR. LIKE A 10x7 WILL THAT TAKE YOUR PLANE FASTER THAN A 10x6???:eek:

The first number is the diameter. The second is pitch or angle of the blade. Pitch is the theoretical distance in inchs the the propellor would move in one revolution if it were operating in a solid.

Only very generalized statements can be made about the effects of changes in diameter and pitch as there are an infinate variety of other factors only one of which is the airframe drag. Here are two of those:

For higher speed frequently a smaller diameter and higher pitch is used, This will result in lower vertical or low speed performance.

For better low speed and climb performance a larger diameter and lower pitch is generally desirable. This will result in lower top level flight speed.

The very best prop for any given airplane and desired type of performance is best decided by just experimenting. Propellor charts are only very general recomendations as a starting point.
