[quote]ORIGINAL: martno1fan just learn to respect people who choose to do it theire own way Martno1fan i think that you should practice what you preach. We are just saying how we did it and how we suggest doing it, we are not saying "do it our way or you'll crash". |

RE: Newbie needs some advice!!
listen mate i do respect others opinions!!but like i said some people get personal and i was replying in the same manner to one individual who keeps doing this!!!.my point was that it is possible to do it yourself im not saying do it just that its how i did it.if someont tells me im talking crap or im full of air how should i react?.i didnt say all of you were implying he would crash but look at the posts youll see most of them have posted verry negative responses!!!.ive heard it all before so im sorry to those who didnt imply that hed crash ,to the others thats up to you .id rather give the guy the choice to do what he feels is right so i gave him my opinion.

RE: Newbie needs some advice!!
Sure, that would be fine. Just get a trainer cord and keep it high. I helped my father and we learned the hard way that he needed to keep it high. It's one thing to lose control low when your flying, but its a whole other story when someone else looses control and you arn't sure EXACTLY what they did to goof it up. In our story my father rolled it over to far and then gave it a bunch of elevator. When I took control a split second later, he had me a little disoriantated (sp?) and I actually ended up crashing it because "I" gave it the wrong command to correct for his mistake. We have since flown a ton and haven't had any TO scary moments to speak of.
I got to tell ya though, I can't wait til he figures it out and can solo. "TRAIN HIGH AND THEN PLAY LOW" Dave |
RE: Newbie needs some advice!!
As long as he has a reasonable amount of experience all should be OK. Let him practice with your plane and get familiar with it for a few minutes and if possible use a buddy cord. Keep it up at a reasonable height until you get the coming/going wrong way turn thing worked out and then bring it down slowly and work into landing patterns. If you have to play Pass-the-box, allow more altitude for safety as it will take longer to save the plane from a mistake. A buddy box would cost a lot less that your next plane would.
Good luck |
RE: Newbie needs some advice!!
Re: "if i know someone who flies and has for a few years do you think they could teach me everything i need" < Probably. There are a lot of experienced flyers that never got their "official instructors" for various reasons. I checked on that a while ago with MAAC which is our Canadain RC insurer and as long as the person teaching has passed their wings test, they are ok with them teaching. If the flyer you know has flown other types of planes after his trainer then skills wise he probably would be ok teaching you. Teaching is different than flying yourself and he may or may not be comfotable with the idea. Ask him and see what he says. [8D]
