gaskets

my gasket for in between the motor and the muffler is broken is there a special material it is made of or can i just use card paper

RE: gaskets

Lot's of engines just skip the gasket altogether. You could try a thin cardboard, too. Worst case scenario is that you get leakage around this connection.

RE: gaskets

All i do nowadays is smear a thin layer of epoxy between the motor and muffler then tighten up straight away before it hardens, I have been doing this for years and it creates a good seal and i've never had no problems using both mufflers and a pipe.

You can run it without the gasket - many brands do not have one. If it leaks you can clean the mating surfaces and use a thin layer of high temp rtv silicon sealer as a gasket.

I second Delman's idea. A toothpick makes a good applicator for the RTV, keeps you from applying too much. The nice thing is it cures the mess, and if you remove the muffler, it's easy to get the old RTV off & apply some more for reassembly.

Good luck,
