Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
I recently took the engine out of my alpha trainer to put in another airplane. I still have the flywheel on it, and when i tighten up the spinner against it, the spinner deforms slightly. What do i need, and does anybody have a website? Thanks guys.

RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
I assume you are not using the 3-blade spinner that came with it? You will need to find a spinner with a flat backplate or a larger diameter recess like the 3-blade spinner had.

RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
No, im not using the 3 blade prop. Its going on a Super Sportster that I'm finishing building.

RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
Like Bruce said, you need to either use a flat-backed spinner (Like the ones Great Planes makes) or get rid of the flywheel.

You need this to make it work. [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=evo100219&OverallCatID=]PROP DRIVER[/link]
However I must have got the last one a few weeks ago and now they say late May for availability. |
RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
Skynyrd Man is correct. You will need to remove the flywheel to install this piece or find a spinner with a flat backplate. The drive hub is probably the easiest/best solution. You will lose just a smidge of your low idle but not enough to worry about.
Leave it to Skynyrd Man to take the last one. Nice guy. Harummmph!! :D |
RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
It's still in its original package, any offers?:D

RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
You need to replace it with part # EVO 040219 (prop driver). Dennis

RE: Evolution Engine Spinner Problem
You could also cut a small circle of 1/16 ply the same size the the front of the existing prop driver (note not the same diameter as the flywheel, just the grooved section). Then drill a 1/4" hole in the center for the prop shaft and you have a quick easy spacer to offset the spinner off the flywheel. This is what I did and it works fine.
