What fuel for 4 cycle
Hi
I bought a Saito72 4Cycle engine and an O.S 70 4Cycles engine. Can I use Power master 15%fuel? I am using for 2 cycle engine. I don't have a manual for those engines. Please let me know. Thank you |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
15% fuel is a good choice, but not less than 18% synthetic only oil is best.

Here's a link to the engine
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...ProdID=SAIE072 On the left side of the page is a link to the manual: http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...ingles2004.pdf It's a 1 mb file. Fuel reccomendations are on page 3 (page 5 in acrobat reader) |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
The Powermaster 15% will work just fine. It has enough oil. Typically, most pilots will use the same fuel in thier 2S engines and 4S engines. Just beware that there are some fuels labeled as 4S fuels... DON'T GET THAT. They are blended with very low oil and are not suitable for use with most of todays 4S engines. Enjoy your new engines... cheers.

RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
What a fast information. Thank you all....
I just checked my fuel. I am using Power Master 15%Nitro-18%Synthetic/Casteroil This is O.K for 4Cycle engine, right? |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Check out your engine's instruction manual to verify, but I have found 2 stroke engines and 4 stroke engines can use the same fuel. I use 12.5 % nitro, 18% synthetic and 2% caster. That formula meets the requirements for the O.S. engines, both 2 stroke and 4 stroke that I have in my planes.

RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
cyworld... Your 15% will do great... I used 15% PowerMaster in my YS
63 and it worked good... But then I tried P.M. 20/20 synthetic.... Big mistake..... I liked it Too Much!!! Now it's the only fuel I use for my 4c's.... |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Your Saito will LOVE powermaster. If it could, it'd reach out and give you a big wet sloppy kiss. :D
Try their heli fuel-even BETTER!!!(for saito) |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Thank you all. I really appreciated.

RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
I use Omega 15% in everything.
Enjoy, Jim |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Omega 15%? Is it for helicopter engine?
I use airplane fuel:Power master 15% and helicopter fuel:Cool Power 30% or 15%. |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Your Powermaster will be just fine,
Now if you really want to spend money and really make that thing purr, Cool power 30% Helli (30% nitro/24% syn oil) will really do the trick. At that point, the engine will find a way to climb out of the plane and give you a big sloppy wet kiss :D For the person that has the YS. Try Wildcat 20/20 or even the same cool power 30/24 Heli. YS engines love nitro and the more the merrier. They are not real fond of castor because it can plug the regulator. The book says you can use it but no more than 2% castor blended with synthetic, but actually recommend full synthetic. I use the Wildcat 20/20 in everything glow I own (slowly switching to gas). On the rare occasional I will buy a gallon of 30/24 Heli for the YS110 if I run low on Wildcat OS160FX Saito100 YS110 |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Bubba,
(wipes the slobber off) You are so right, I have been running that in my OS 50 and I am also going to run it in my Magnum 91 when I put that in my P-40. It's a great fuel. About $6 or so more per gallon, but I think its worth it. Tom |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Oh yes ... Cool Power 30% heli fuel for YS engines! :)
|
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Ditto on what bubbagates said. The only glow fuel I currently use is CoolPower 30% heli, then again all my glow engines are YS. YS engines LOVE this stuff. Monster power, great response. Only down side is YS engines LOVE this stuff in quantity... I only get 5-6 flights per gallon with my 160DZ.... can anyone say fuel hog? Oink!
|
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
can anyone say fuel hog? Oink But they are expensive...[X(] |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
I get pretty good mileage on my YS110, I fly the F90 and I get about 20 mins of flying time from one tank. I think its a 12-14 oz tank. The YS110 gives a lot of power without the muffler, I am flying w/out one, just a diverter to clear the cowling.

RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Tianci:
What does your plane weigh and are you flying it at or near full throttle to get the 20 min. flight times on the 12-14 size fuel tank? What fuel did you say you used to achieve this? |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Flieger - the Funtana 90 is a slow plane in the sense that you do not fly it that fast. I fly at about 40% max on level flight. When I go vertical its 100% throttle and prop hangs are at about 55% throttle. Tank is the standard one ... I think about 14 oz. Fuel is Cool Power 30% heli. I did run a TT120 2C also and I could get about 8 mins flight at about 125 ml, not sure how much in oz. That is on my 1/4 scale LASER 200.

RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
I run Cool Power 15% in my 110FZ, and I can't imagine that it could possibly run better.
I'm certainly not going to spend more on fuel for better performance - That would be like buying diamonds for a woman that loves Cubic Zirconium! :D |
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
Minn ... what are you getting with your 15%? I might go back to 15% as I moved to 30% just after break in on 15%.
|
RE: What fuel for 4 cycle
I have a Saito 91 and O.S91 4Cycle engine,also,O.S46 and Webra 120. Those company recommend 10%~20%.
Is it O.K use 30%helicopter fuel for those engines? |
