DAMAGED PLANE! HELP!

1 Attachment(s)
Well, i just bought a Nexstar and was gettin ready to go fly it when i noticed my son had made a hole in the wing. The hole is small but i just paid 400$ for this thing and there is no way i want to crash it. I would really appreciate if you guys could tell me will this affect my plane in the air. Will it make it crash? Is it a huge problem? Could i cover it with something? Should i just leave it? Well please please help me!!! I need to know before my wife finds out. HAHA!

Your help is greatly appreciated!:D

Here are the pics.....

You can temporarly fix it with trim tape or packing tape. When you have more time use the correct type of iron-on covering and it will look as good as new.

Piece of scotch tape will take care of it. It's not pretty, but it'll work

Hope this helps

You really have no need to worry about it. I would just put a stick over it.

two eaasiest things would be packing tape or a piece of STICKER(wich i believe is what chad meant) you might buy some stick on monokote and make yourself some contrast stripes that happen to cover it(they seel a sticker based monokote)

Thats hardly a problem, a piece of tape and your done till you get the right monokote for it..
When I flew my tiger 2 last week the film came off about a quarter of the bottom of the wing still flew.
guess I did'nt iron it on with enough heat when I broke the ribs 3 weeks ago

I usually use that stuff for permanent fixes rather than temporary ones...

All the above suggestions are fine.................

One thing that worrys me thou......... u said "thiers no way i want to crash it"............ everyone crashes and its part of this hobby :)...... u should never fly if ur not willing to loose a model....... The Ground/Tree Gods may call on ur plane anytime...... we had one guy at our feild who got soo upset when he lost a plane....... (Pilot Error) that he nearly had a heart attack....... which is stuipd, its a hobby its not the end of the world...... yes its annoying but gives u an excuse to get another ;) in 3 years of flying ive only lost one touch wood...... but i know when it lifts off it will come down one way or the other ;)

Good Luck

Dude, you need to peel and re-cover that NextStar. The balance will be off if you just stick a piece of tape to every new hole that needs patching. You have work to do! :D

kidding of course ...just use tape. Bring some with you to the field. You will use it often.

Sounds like a good time to break down and start buying the rest of the RC hobby stuff - a roll of Monokote, covering iron, and some practice balsa to learn how to apply covering. Aftetr you have learned how to apply the Monokote the your practice balsa, learn how to put apply a Monokote patch to the already covered practice balsa (you have to learn how to control the heat on the covering iron), then go fix that wing. Packing tape is a good temp fix, but at least with Monokote (or Ultrakote, or whatever brand you get) your learning a new skill that will help if you ever decide to buy a kit instead of an ARF. Plus, you'll also learn how to repair those pesky hanger dings that all of us get.

Hate to break the bad news to you but...... you don't really NEED to do anything. You could probably fly it like that for a year and never know it. It's mostly cosmetic. Stick some tape on it if you want to or patch it and forget it. :) Please note that this does not apply to all holes but it does to this one.
