Evolution 11 trainer

I tried a search but everything came up as either the evolution engine or trainer so I got like 10 pages of that,,what I'm looking for it "The Evolution 2 Trainer" I saw on theebay for way too much shipping $20,,but only like $40 ...so worth a look at on here....hopefully there is the good news from someone here..Rog

Flyinrog,

Type into google "Hangar 9". I think there you will find your answer. I think what you are looking for is the Evolution Trainer system manufactured by Hangar 9. I believe it's a 3 blade prop and flywheel that is claimed to make flying a trainer easier.

Hope this helps

No I'm talking about an actual plane, I bought one off theebay ,,I just wondered if anyone here has any experience with them..it has nothing to do with the evolution system..I know about the funky finned engine and 3 bladed prop....thanks anyway..Rog

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

Are you sure it's not a Hangar9 Extra Easy2 trainer with the Evolution .455 Trainer Power System on it? As far as I know, Evo doesn't make planes, but the Extra Easy2s are powered by the Evo. TPS .455 engine.

I looked myself and all the above came to mind. Then I looked up evoltion trainer on ebay. There it is, the only place I could find any info. Looked up the ? designer on the side. Nothing.
I would ask one of the seller on ebay. It looks very questionable to me. No feedback ratings on the seller. Hobbyextreme707 member since May 27, 2005. It is not a camera picture as the picture indicates...not sure what that is.
I get my fair share of magazines, I look all over here on the web, been to hobby shops in many states. Never heard of it.
Good luck with your purchase, I really hope it works out for you.

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

After the above comment I looked a bit more. A website called http://www.raidentech.com/steviinigasr.html sells it for $60.00 also and their mission statement is a proud one.
Still I would be a lot more convinced if they would post a real picture of the thing.
I admit to being very wary on-line and especially so on e-bay. However I have never had a bad experience in buying on-line except the normal mfg. goofs.

If you're looking for a cheap trainer buy a WM Skyraider MK I. Should retail for about $69 at your LHS, and you'll find that WM makes some very good stuff. Plus you won't have to deal with some shyster on Ebay selling real garbage, and if you buy something from your LHS you'll be able to go back and ask questions. I guarantee your E-bay buddy won't be quite as willing to field your servo/fuel/engine/why won't it start questions......

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

Yeah I found that site too, but didnt put the picture thing together,,I have contacted the seller and he has answered my emails so far,, didnt catch the zero feedback until after I "won" , so I'll check it out and let you guys know what it looks like,, it was $41 plus $20 s&h so for $61 unless its really trash,,I'll come out ok I think....it is also a drop shipped item ,..Rog,,and as for my lhs,,one is more an art/craft store, the other is an older gentleman who opens his store pretty much when he feels like it, and I work at night so that doesnt work out for me very well and the other was only into cars and fads and went belly up after about 2 years...Rog

its a scam,,ebay contacted me and told me to cancel the money order....RED ALERT

mblue2050 06-06-2005 06:01 AM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

I hope you do not lose any money.
I also hope that you do not get a bad taste for the hobby. Most of the folks in RC are honest fun loving, frieldly.

That fellow on ebay gas nothing to do with is hobby and I hope ebay has some procedure in place to dicipline these scam idiots.
I wish there was some way ebay could stop that but its just far to easy.
I do not know all the places on this site. I would like to see this alert more visible.

Thanks for letting anyone who looks here know about it. I am very glad ebay caught it and alerted you.

Have a great day
Michael

Have you had a chance to look over the Start 40, evolution II model yet? Fly it? I am looking at it as my trainer so I am very interested. Thanks Marty

tukkus 06-20-2005 11:20 AM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

if you look at the weight of the plane it doesn't make any sense....

The Start-40 Evolution II is fully in wood, manufactured by CAD/CAM (computer aid design and computer aid manufacturer) It has a light weight of average 300 grams to 500 grams. This enables you performance training and easy flight. It would need a short runway for take off and landing. The design makes it very attractive in flight position.

Comes with landing gear and its solid design allow soft touch and go landing. This Trainer 40 Airplane allows and supports many bad manoeuvers such as hard landings, small crashes, tight turns, and more! The best way to fly and the easy way to success is the Start-40 Evolution II. Strong and Performance airplane with plywood ribs!

Wingspan: 1450 mm
Length: 1160 mm
Built/Construction: Balsa wood and ply wood
Engine Required: 2C 0.40-0.46cu.in; 4C 0.45-0.61cu.in
Radio Required: 4 Channels, 4 Servos

A 500 gram plane weighs almost 18 ounces and it's calling for a .40 - .61 engine

something doesnt seem right, not to mention why would someone buy something that really doesnt have a history or any reviews done on it

tsands 06-20-2005 12:41 PM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

everything started out without a history or a review maybe this guy will get lucky and he can review it

flyinrog 06-20-2005 08:19 PM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

I got it and on the box it says 300 to 500 grs,,may be a different unit of weight they have,,this thing has gotta be 5 pounds plus....havent put the thing together yet although it shouldnt take long its only in 5 pieces....Rog
It is pretty heavy duty...

Evidently there is several hobbie shops that carry evo plane the one I'm going to purchase is only 49.00. I got a la 40 engine I need
to use, so i think this is the plane for it . It should be plenty of power for just sport flying around.[&:]
'They have a larger version for 59.00..

;) well guys I have put it together and it was not to hard they put plastic hinges in and i replaced them with a fiber hinge the gas tank ruber topper was a bit big but no prob, just sanded it down a bit to fit. The spar was missing and just made one for it not a hard thing to do. over all I would say the plane is not a bad plane to put together. I have a O . S FP 40 in it and am going the fly club to run it a bit to see if I need to add any wight to the plane. you all have been looking for a pic of the plane well hear are some of it all together. let us now something......if its realy even a semi decent plane, it would be a good option for a budget beginner. might even buy one to let my GF and mom fly after i go back to CS(trying to get them into it...)

**edit** is that a semi symetrical airfoil, or a flat bottom one? if its semi....i might by it to use as a TD trainer....

well I think it will be fine it has 1% dh wing so it will be stable for flight and I have the os 40 for a slower flight I will post how it flys this comming week this was a plane that some one had got and did not put together That is why the spar was missing I had got it off Ebay for $51.00 but found it on the web for $49 lol ;)

Well guys it dose fly wahoooo lol the plane is tail heavy but you can set the trim to make it fly true I am going to add some wight to the front of the plane. the O. S 40 works fine it is a slow take off but when it is up it fly's fast. The plane has a good responsd and is fast in the sky. The plane lands great. well it looks like I was the tester for this plane and thank god it did not do me wrong. I will be trying to get it on video and you all can see it fly. ;)

tsands 08-15-2005 07:42 PM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

congrats on the maiden. DID YOU CHECK C.G. BEFORE YOU FLEW IT?? Just a ? you're lucky if it is tail heavy. Could've crashed. Check your manual. The center of gravity should be in there. I'm guessing it's somewhere near the main wing spar but that's just a guess since I have no experience with this plane.

Hey bud if you want a trainer you should getthe LT 40 cadet that plane is the plane for a begener and it wont Let you down in my book it it is the only plane for a beginer.

vern29 08-15-2005 07:56 PM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

Yes I did check it And new it was tail heavy but when I put the powermaster fule in it that helped it so i could set the trim in the air. the tank is 8 o.z. so I'm thinking that I will try 4 o.z. and try that I dont whant it to be nose heavy that would be worse. all the guys liked the plane at the fly field I did a Tight loop and the plane perfrormed great. Did a spin and turnd it back to me upside down that was great. you should add some rubber bands I added 6 #64 rubber bands to help hold the wing on just to be safe lol.

you know tsands I am new to the sport and this is the first plane i put together. So this is a great day for me lol I just do a lot of readind and i thinmk it helped me on this plane or maybe i was just lucky but all and all it is flying and doing good.

This is a great site and we can all finde out what to do with the planes and how they fly, just want to say thank you R.C UNIVERSE. :)

tsands 08-15-2005 08:35 PM

RE: Evolution 11 trainer

I just want to make sure you understand that the c.g. is supposed to be checked with the tank empty because as the flight progresses and the weight of the fuel goes down your c.g. will change and it is always better to have the nose heavy rather than the tail.. BTW welcome to the addiction. (sorry ken I know that's your line:D:D). The important part is the guys at the field signed off on your plane so if it flies and they are ok with it then fly it and HAVE FUN:D I don't mean to discourage but 10 rubber band is good 6 is not enough. Enough of that fly and ENJOY YOUR PLANE.

Don't change your tank 8 oz's equals more enjoyment per flight:D:D

Lmao ok will do. we have a guy that has been flying rc planes for 40 + years and this guy knows it all and he is a cool guy for being old lol He teaches us all every day he is out their.

Imagine my surprise as I searched for info on this plane and found out it was MY thread!!
well I built it and have th OS .40 LA and mine is tail heavy too ,,,I have a small lead weight on the engine and the battery on top of the fuse (both for testing purposes) and its still tail heavy ,,I email the manufacturer for info on the CG and they referred me to someone else so I'm still waiting on that reply...good to hear its a good flyer, I may put a Fox .45 on it for weight to see if that helps or I may just fill the tank and try it that way for 1/2 a tank....Rog

Got a reply back from the guy raidentech sent me to..he says the cg is 3.75 inches back from the leading edge which works out fine,,the build manual say it 2.9 inches back...big difference ..so its ready to fly....I fly 1/2a and this OS .40 really sucks up some fuel!! I use a fuel syringe,,full I could get 8-10 flights on one of my planes I put it in the tank and it lasted a couple of minutes!!!...Rog

Well I am in clintonville WI, The wing dose tip up 1% and not down. I have put some plywood behind the Engine mount I used 2 , 3/16th inch blocks on each side this put the engine out 4 3/4 inches out. I have not flew it yet like this but it should help. the plane wants to clime but you should have enuff trim to make it right. this plane flys well and is fun for a trainer. If it still wants to clime I will put a GS45 ABC Sport Engine from SuperTigre.

Weight w/o muffler: 377g (13.22oz)
Weight with muffler: 524g (18.5oz)
Displacement: .46 cu in (7.5cc)
Power Output: 1.45 BHP at 16,000 RPM
RPM Range: 2,500-16,000
this will have to work lol
I have just built a giles G-202 Plane and it is a very nice plane I have put the O.S. MAX 50 SX RING in it.
SPECIFICATIONS:

Engine Type: 2-Stroke
Displacement: .500 cu. in.
Cylinders: 1

General Specs:
- 1 cylinder
- Displacement: .500 cubic inches
- Bore: .866 (in.)
- Stroke In: .850 (in.)
- Shaft: 1/4 x 28 thread
- Low RPM: 2000
- High RPM: 17000
- 1.800 bhp @ 17000 RPM
- Weight (no muffler): 13.76 oz.
Weight (witth muffler): 14 .96 oz
This should be a fast plane guys.
