Tape hinges?
 

I got a yak 54 shockflyer as a present and since it is my first kit, I have some questions about it. When I tried to tape the hinges, the aileron is really loose on one side and the tape rips off the wing when I bend it the other way about 50 degrees. Is this normal or should you be able to bend it all the way to the wing both ways? Also, is there any yak contstruction pages anywhere? Thanks, I need all the help I can get[sm=confused.gif]

I cut the leading edges of the control surfaces to a ">" shape on my foamies. Also try Dubro hinge tape. It works.

Does the > help? How far up and down are the control surfaces supposed to move freely? Mine go partway one way and all the way the other direction.

You have to round or v the leading edge and when you apply the tape rotate the the moving surface to the full extent of travel opposite the side the tape is on then apply tape tightly. Then rotate in the opposite direction and apply tape to the other side. This should give you equal travel in both directions without any slop

So what your saying is put tape on one side, flip it over, apply tape. Flip over and [take off 1st tape?] or [apply over top of the 1st tape]. Is there supposed to be a gap between the control surface and the wing? How big? Im sorry, I cant picture this because i tried this and it left a gap in between the control surface and the wing. I suppose this just my unique experience and my mistake. I think someone might have to explain a little plainer if they could be troubled.
