Most likely, the high-speed mixture is too lean & the low-speed mixture is about right. when the engine transitions from the low-speed mixture to the hi-speed mixture, (more or less at about 1/2 throttle) it goes lean & dies. When you fix the high speed mixture, you will probably have to re-adjust the low-speed setting again.
