How to remove binding from pushrods..
Well I'm doing some maintenance on my Xtra easy arf from hangar 9 and I'v had some servo growl ever since day one.
Now that I removed the engine I can see why, the throttle pushrod (metal rod in a tube) is in a constant arc between the firewall and the forward wing saddle area / bulkhead Would it be acceptable to put a Z-bend right after the firewall so the arc won't be as great? Given it will still have to arc down the servo in the wing area. Or would a Z bend remove some of the rigidity from the wire and make it like a spring? Thanks! |
RE: How to remove binding from pushrods..
I know drilling a new path would be best but its not an option
The engine is higher than the mounting plate for the throttle, rudder, elevator/nosewheel mounting plate |
RE: How to remove binding from pushrods..
If your pushrod is small gauge wire the bend won't cause any problems. If it is a little stiff movement in the pushrod go to your local Lowe's/Home Depot and pick up some graphite. Remove the pushrod and squirt a little graphite in both ends of the tube and then replace the pushrod. This will remove a lot of stiffness in a case like this.
Hope this helps Ken |
RE: How to remove binding from pushrods..
Change the solid rod to a twisted wire. The binding should cease.
