three blader for my satio 100 ?
Anyone know what 3-blade prop that is suitable for a satio 100 ?
thanks |
RE: three blader for my satio 100 ?
Which ever size 2 blade prop you would use for your application (engine, plane, what you are doing with the plane ), either reduce the pitch by 1 OR the diameter by 1" to get "equivelant" performance.
In reality, unless you need the ground clearance, or it is for "scale" appearance, I suggest staying with a 2 blade prop. You have a larger selection of diameters x pitch than 3 blade and the price is less - quite often substantially less, and they are a lot easier to balance. |

Campy is correct. You will lose performance by switching to a three blade prop, as they are not as efficient. True, they look good, and I've got a couple that I use, but for all out performance, stick with two blades.

That's interresting. With any two baded prop on my Saito .72 I could not achieve unlimited vertical on my SSE, but when I switched to my 10x7 three-bladed Graupner, I had unlimited vetical! Go Figure!

blue moon--14 X 8 three blade will be too much for the 100. a 14 X 8 two blade is right at the limit for this engine. If you are running a 15 X 8, then I suspect (actually, I know by experience) that you are lugging this engine too hard. A 13 X 7, 13 X 8, or so would be a nice fit for the saito 100. I too have had decent experience with three bladed props.

i got myself a 15x6.... two blader. its difficult to find a 4" spinner for a threeblader, so i decided to go with a two blade
i tried the 15x8 on the saito, but hte performance was not that good... |
RE: three blader for my satio 100 ?
Yes, a 15 X 6 two blader is also a nice prop for this engine. Also, for large, three or four blade spinners, you may have to purchase a "blank" spinner and cut your own slots.
