hehe i opened up a can of worms there lol?,i was only joking about the second plane bit mate.i allready built a scratch built p51d for a size 10 engine and i still havent maidened it as im still learning (self taught).even so if anyone has plans for a good prop jet in the 40-46 size id be gratefull!!.i like building and i realise i need more experience before i attempt to fly such a plane.im currently looking at the dps spad for my second plane!!.flies good and very strong two things in my favour!!!:D.

Kangke had a .60 size with retracts. Both of mine are .40s and not designed to take retracts to well without major surgury to the nose. If I can do it without a unacceptable wieght gain I am looking at putting them into the SA. Both fly very well I think I like the SA a little better, plus it may be easier to find.

The F-16 by cermark posted with the F-14 by great planes now has a jett 90L and I would say that is a better reliable engine. I feel more confidence with that engine than with the thunder tiger that had before....
The only thing I didn't like about the plane is the weakness on the main landing gear wood structure. I had to beef it up with some bass wood, which is a stronger better wood.
I’m testing several props with the jett 90 on the F-16. I was able to hit 105 MHP with a 12*8 prop, and just last weekend I tried a 11*9 I don't know how was is going but I will find out before the winter gets here.
I just want to make something real clear... The F-16 or at least mine doesn't have to come in hot for landing. When landing the F-16 has that scale looking like with the nose up "no flaps" and very gentle landing "spring air and oleos". Very stable. I think is a good jet for does of us who are thinking about getting into jets and can't afford turbines.
I would say if you have a good knowledge and can handle high speed and have master trainers and landings, I think one can handle the F-16. I'm not really into jets "I like 3D" this is my first jet and my first and all my landings are a show. Not because of me but because of the F-16 characteristics of nose up landing.

I wonder if any of these planes could be modified into a cheap scale looking ducted fan jet? any ideas? I just had an idea for a stol mod for these planes. just open up the exaust in the tail and stick a model rocket engine in there, AA should be good. any takers??

I can see how that would make it "STO" but the "L" wouldn't be much affected. RAT (Rocket Assisted Takeoff) has been attempted many times. I've seen vids of trainers with rockets strapped to the wings. But fitting them to prop jets does make it more interesting. The burn, however, is so short that I doubt you'd really be able to appreciate it.

Anyway, here is my prop jet. Had a hard time starting it but it flew once and was sold to someone soon after. It is an AMD slope soarer with mid mounted 32SX. THe prop was driven through a marine drive flex cable and a electric prop collet spinner on the other side. A 9x6 pusher prop provided the thrust. I'd do it again if I had the time but I just don't!
