What prop size

Hello I have a super chipmonk 46 and Im putting a Enya 53 4 stroke motor on it. What 3 blade prop should I use for it. The plane has a 61.5 inch wing span and is 49.5 inches long.

Thanks

A .53 will swing a 12 x 6, 2 bladed prop just fine. For a 3 bladed prop, go down 1 on the diameter and 1 on the pitch. So an 11 x 5. 3 bladed prop will be within the engines capabilities.

But why a 3 bladed prop? Apart from slowing the descent, it won't really give you all that much benefit over a 2 bladed unit. A 2 blade, 12 x 6 will give your excellent TORQUE, which is what you want for climbing an aerobatic model like a Super Chippy.

If it's a Goldberg Super Chippy, a 53 4-stroke will be mighty thin stuff, regardless of the prop. You will need every last ounce of go to be had -- forget the 3-blade.
