Covering 4* Stringers
 

I am just about finished with my Four Star 60 build. This is my first build and covering job, and so far it has been looking great. I have ran into a problem with the stringer area behind the headrest though. I have a piece of Monocoat all sealed around the edges and I have begun to shrink it with a heat gun, but it won't get tight enough. There are a lot of wrinkles in it and it looks horrible. It's not too bad right behind the HR, but as it goes further back the looser and uglier it gets. How can I shrink this up without re-doing it? I have a heat gun and an iron. Thanks.

Okay guys I got it. Just thought I would let you know how in case someone stumbles onto this thread later with the same question. As simple as it was, all I had to do was turn up my heat IRON to about 375*F and lay it across the top of the stringers for a few seconds and the wrinkles came right out. Also, just a note- this was all done with MonoKote. I'm sure other kinds of covering material would be different.

I've built a couple of 4*'s and usiong 1/16 balsa sheeted the stringers. Looks better, is stronger and easier to cover. Next time do yourself a BIG favour, use Ultracote.
