Batter Charge Time

How long.

My question is, because i thought it would be a LOT longer than it looks like...

My cousin was over with hi kid last night...and the little one turned on the reciver switch...so this morning during my pre-departure to the feild check....i see my battery is down at 1 volt....ok, a little miffed, but oh well...

An hour later i check it to look at where we're at..and im back at 5 volts....is that a true reading or does that not sound right...i was under the impression that it took longer to recharge these things...

RE: Batter Charge Time

The voltage by itself is not a good indicator of a battery being fully charged. Rather, how much current does it hold. It will quickly show the correct voltage under no load. The correct test is to measure it under a typical load of 4 servos etc.

Either way, if your battery is say 500mAh, and you use your wall charger, typically 50 mAh, then you would need to charge for 10 hours to fully charge it. If you have a fast field charger, then this time is much less.

This is why I usually make sure the appropriate number of little red lights on the chargers are glowing the night before I plan to fly.
