servo troubles....
 

well me plane flew like crap yesterday, no wind, just could not get it to go straight. it just wandered where ever it wanted to go so I asked one of the more experienced flyers to help get it down. we looked over the plane and found what might be teh problem. the airplane servos were no longer firmly attached to the servo tray. they all had atleast one screw whitch had pulled loose on me includeing the aleron servo.
when I installed them I drilled a guide hole that was the same diameter of the screws shank. and then screwed downn the servos. now they are pulling out on me. any way to fix this??

I drill 1/16" holes...then I put a drop of CA on the hole to harden it... when that dries, I screw in the servo... never had a problem

so what about now for me? the holes are allready so big the screw threads wont bite in, should I rip the tray out and cut a new servo tray out of some balsa ply and start over? or is there some way to fix the holes?

CA a piece of dowel in the hole. When the CA is dry sand any dowel sticking up even with the servo tray, then drill a 1/16" hole for the screw. Put the screw in, then take it out and put a drop of thin CA in the screw hole. When the CA dries install your servo. The CA will harden the threads made by the screw.

A tip for you:

RTL Fastners has socket head servo screws with a built in washer. They use a 5/64" ball driver. Much easier to install than the philips head or slot head screws.

you can glue a piece of hardwood scrap under the tray at the screw holes and use longer screws and then use the ca like was said.i hope this helps...happy flying.

Plug the holes with a tooth pick and some epoxy or CA, these are wonderful little error fixers...

Wont fit in the brass ferrels.
