Plan to upgrade to a 9C
 

Dear all,
I'm presently flying sportster using a basic 4 channel futaba radio. In the very near future, I might fly Heli or more channel plane and that's the reason I might upgrade to a 9C once and for all.
I'd seen on Tower hobbies that the price is difference between the 9CHP and the 9CAP ( all accessories is the same ) The 9 CHP seems to be more expensive. Why is it so? And if I were to upgrade, which model should I buy? A 9CAP or a 9CHP? given the reason above.
I'd heard of the synthesised receiver which I believe will enable you to tune to any desired frequency. But do I need to have a synthesised transmitter also to made this work?
Sorry for the long post but this is the place where I can get reliable and honest replies.

I am not sure why the 9CHP would cost any more than the 9CAP, they are basically the same radio with the default program on the 9CHP set for heli. Someone will correct me if I am wrong on this.

If you are going to use a synthesized reciever, you don't necessarily need a synthesized transmitter. However, If you plan on changing channels on the receiver, then you would need to swap the frequency module for the transmitter or use the synthesized module. It really doesn't make sense to have just the synthesized receiver, without several frequency modules for the transmitter, hence the synthesized transmitter module.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 9CA AND 9CH TRANSMITTERS:
9CH has trainer and 2-position switches on top right
9CA has trainer and 2-position switches on top left
9CH has a smooth throttle transition
9CA has ratcheted throttle

9CH is a helicopter orientated radio, therefore the smooth throttle and other changes.

The differences that I know between the 9C Airplane and Heli versions is this.
1) Switches are on opposite sides of the TX (ie Trainer on Air left or Heli right)
2) Default programing is for Aircraft or Heli respectively.
3) Ratchet and non-ratchet throttle (flip the ratchet arm over on the airplane and it is smooth)

Look at the specs. The H version comes with a bigger (1000mah vice 600) reciever battery and 3004 ball bearing servos vice the standard 3001 servos.

The swithes are different slighly and the throttle ratchet.

If your planning on flying heli's at some point get the H version, planes fly just fine with a smooth throttle.

You don't need a syth unless you want to channel hop, if you get a syth rx there's no point unless you get the synth transmitter module.

the heli version also gets one extra 3 position instead of a 2 position switch.

Check Servo City for price. They may be the cheapest.

It doesn't get an extra 3 position switch, its moved to the left side.
