I just bought a SIG LT-40 and want to make it a taildragger. Any suggestions on what parts to use?

get a one piece alluminum gear piece for you main landing gear. the stock rods will bend and not work well if your new to landings. mine let the prop hit the dirt all the time. im going for a one peice alluminum soon. you will need a nother push rod and connections and a steerable tail wheel assembly also. you can get them at towerhobbies.com or your local hobby shop. you will need to find a small peice of scrap wood and glue it in the tail section to back up the stock stuff. I put mine on the out side but if your building from a kit then you can install the peice while its easily in reach. id recomend cutting a little bit of the stock balsa sheeting so the tail sits lower. mine sits kinda high off the ground but I like it this way.

thanks for the reply. I am getting a ARF LT-40 and was thinking about fabricating a peice of wire or rod and tie it in with the rudder. I think maybe a inch and a quarter tail wheel would work.

Check out my Lt-40 build thread - toward the bottom. Should give you some ideas. :D

Part numbers listed in the initial post.

I also seen where the tail wheel was tied in to the rudder so when the rudder moved so did the tail wheel. This seemed real simple. No need for tail wheel push rods. Any ideals on doing the tail wheel this way?

Just got done looking at pictures of your tail wheel conversion. Looks really good. Another question. Exactly what are the various parts did you use from the end of the pushrod down to the end of the servo arm? Thanks again I need all the help I can get.

One of the 1/8" pushrods that came with the kit.

Scraps for the rod guides.

(2) 2-56 Dubro threaded metal pieces.

(1) 2-56 clevis

Dubro ball link(Dubro part no 181) - will need to drill out the brass piece a little to get the ball piece to fit.

One servo arm.
