under 100?
is there any way i can get into flying for under 100?
im looking for something that will be nice and slow, hopefully more relaxing than anything and electric... thanks |
RE: under 100?
If you shop carefully you might be able to stretch $100 enough to build a .049 powered glider from plans utilizing an inexpensive 2 channel radio. Another possibility would be an inexpensive RTF plane, but I know nothing about them

RE: under 100?
Unless you find a really good deal at an auction, you will be restricted to RTF (ready to fly) park fliers for that sum.
Planes in the FireBird line can be be bought for around $100. They are slow, electric and fly OK. However, they are intended for low wind conditions (5MPH or less) which may limit when you can fly. Most I've seen are two channel. You use throttle for altitude control and then just steer left/right. IMO I'd consider these planes more "toy like" than other models, but they are functional RC planes, just with limited performance and control. |

is there any way i can get into flying for under 100? The freedom flyer is the best way to go. the link below will take you right to the site. I'm steamed at how low the price was for Labor Day. RE: under 100?
Hey Chuck, CMaxx if you have room to fly ,there are several plans available in the 1/2a forum that you could scratch build for $10 worth of balsa..add the $7 engine and $80 for the radio...well you will also need misc building supplies that will go over your budget...if you have a school yard to fly at then I would go with a RTF electric like the hobbico flyzone/ventura $89.99/$124.99.(search Tower Hobbies).if you go rtf do a search for it in the parkflyer section BEFORE you buy..if you'd rather go glow engine then head over to 1/2a and search for the LS150 lots of us have built them....Rog

RE: under 100?
for 60 bucks, that isnt bad at all, but what about the folding prop, will that harm its preformance if im going to use it as a strict powered plane?

RE: under 100?
will that harm its preformance if im going to use it as a strict powered plane? I lost mine I believe to being shot down. I hopped it up to a 400 motor with ESC. (throttle control) I had a ball with this bird and if it is $60 now I will by one next week. I have tons of spare parts. ;) |
