If it was an Alpha 40 trainer, I would suspect that when the wing haves were joined that either the wrong kind of epoxy was used or not enough of it was used. I personally have an Alpha 40 trainer and have beat the wings to death(pilot stations mostly) and they are still straight and true. If you are sure you assembled the wing exactly as the instructions said. Then send the wing to Hanger 9 ( Horizon Hobbies) and see if they will give you any comp.

Good luck

It seems to me that one item missing may have been the wing brace . I am not familiar with this model, so maybe someone who is will know if a wing brace is supplied, and was there adaquit epoxy used when glueing wings together?

Yes, the Alpha 40 does come with a wing brace. Although in mine it did not fit and I had to sand the brace just slightly to get it in the wing halves. I would assume that the brace would not have been left out of the wing as it does more than just support the wing. It also acts as an alignment tool when joining the halves.

I have the alpha 40 arf and the rtf the rtf does not use glue to join the two wing half's together in the instructions but the arf does however that being said it is a good idea to use some 30 minute epoxy on them but i also use 12 rubber bands when flying not the suggested 8 that is called for in the manual. Ive heard of the wings trying to depart from the plane in windy days with the only 8 rubber bands.

For what's it's worth, we bought five alpha ARF's for our flight school here in Arkansas. Two of the five have had wing failures. Hangar 9 has replaced one plane, and the other was low enough that it was repaired.
Since then the three remaining planes have had their wings reinforced with fiberglass.

Call Horizon, get a return authorization for the wing, and get a new plane. (Keep the fuse for parts)

Good Luck

Hello everyone. I am new to RC universe and flying but I have a question about my alpha. I am having a wing problem as well, but it is due to pilot error. I need to find out about repair techniques. I stalled and nosed in from about twenty feet on a day that I knew was two windy for my skills, but thought I could handle. It was a good lesson learned, when in doubt of your skills keep it on the ground when you are solo.

Anyway, any repair advice, or direction toward a repair forum would be appreciated. Again, this is the first message board I have ever used, and I really don't have any idea how to navigate it. I can add pics of the damage when I figure out where I need to post and how to attach the pics. Thanks

To post pics, you have to use the reply button. You cannot use the fast reply box and post pics. Pick a post (usually the last post) and click on "reply" in the upper right hand corner. Then, at the bottom of the ensuing box, you can click on "upload." Upload your pics.

We need pics to help you out.
