New Avistar/New Flyer
 

I had a Hobbico Sky Pilot (3-Channel) and it flew ok. Had a bad crash about 5th flight and damaged the fuse pretty bad. I have a Hobbico 40 Select. Is there anything to do to fly this without instruction from an instructor. I live in the boon docks and it would be quite a drive to get to my nearest instructor. I wanna fly it, and I know for me to really get into this sport I need professional help, and I'm sure I will eventually get that, but for now.

Getting an instructor is probably the single most important thing you can do to learn to fly. Why do you say that it is quite a drive to the nearest instructor? Where did you look for one? I went to the AMA website and did a search, I found 4 clubs within 30 miles from you. Surely you can find an instructor at one of those. I take it from the title its an Avistar...I have been flyin mine for about 2 years now and a trainer is definately a good idea. The avistar isnt like most trainers, its not gunna float as well as most, and it reacts a bit quicker than say a superstar...or some other trainer with a flat bottom wing and a lot of dehidral.
Get an instructor...you will be happy you did!
