canopy question
Today I flew my second brand new 4-Star and someone, somewhere had a transmitter that was on the same channel as me. (I was all alone at the field too) Anyway, I was fighting the controls like mad and when I tried to bring it down, my airplane bounced off the ground, and then came down hard again. When I reached where is landed, I found that the head of my pilot (Mickey Mouse) had bounced off of the frame. Now I have Mickey's head lying down and bouncing around. My canopy is glued on. My question is this: Is there a way to remove the canopy with destroying the plane so that I can reattach the pilot? I think I know already what the answer is, but I just don't like the big ole head bouncing around in the cockpit. Besides, it looks silly that way. Any help here would sure be appreciated.

RE: canopy question
Contact your local ship in a bottle builder, they'll have a solution for you. :D

RE: canopy question
I guess the situation depends on what you glued the canopy down with. If you used GOOP or RC 56 you should be able to carefully slip a thin piecve of wood or or small metal ruler under the edge and carefully work your way around breaking the seal. Then clean up with rubbing alcohol. If you CA'd it onyou have a REAL difficult situation. Good luck

RE: canopy question
You might want to try cutting out the botton of the cockpit floor from the inside.
And from now on always secure your pilot with screws or a peg of some type - this type of thing will always happen if it's just glued to the floor of the cockpit |
RE: canopy question
Mickey is dead. Just tell folks its the mouse from Itchy and Scratchy.

RE: canopy question
Sugarfoot
I'd be more worried about the hit or a bad reciever than dead mickey. BTW screw the canopy on so if mickey gets out again. Did you range check after landing?? |
RE: canopy question
That's one of the main reasons I didnt glue the canopy down on my Four Star. If I need to take it off, 4 screws and it's done.

RE: canopy question
The better question is how you know for sure it was a hit from another radio???? Did you do a good range check before the flight? How many flights did you have on this plane, where was the antena wire located, etc etc etc. A lot of people blame misfortune at the field to radio hit.
