Theres an EP electric from Hobbico and it now comes with a new wing with ailerons,,you could probably use that ,,I'm not sure what the PT is..or if you can just buy the wing alone...Rog

Just hope that I crash my PT-40 and the fuse is a total loss. Then I'll have to sell you the wing, right? :D

Short version: I built this plane as a kit 9-10 years ago when I was in high school, buddy-boxed on it a couple times, and then the elevator control was lost and it went in. I rebuilt it and it sat for 8 years in my parents attic. I got the bug to fly it again a month or two back, and grabbed it from them last time I visited new hampshire. Bruce8813423587364934698349672396723967397 has been giving me a couple tips and has kindly agreed to buddy-box me. ;)

If you feel up to building a wing with ailerons for it, I could run off some photocopies of the wing plans and the manual at Kinkos.

Here's a picture of an aileron-equipped PT-40 since no one seems to know what it is...[8D]

I have a PT-Electric my uncle and me built 5 years ago. We tossed the electric motor and converted the plane to nitro. We installed a Tunder Tiger .15. The plane flies get without ailerons why do you want to add them? I learned to fly on this plane and really had no problem flying without ailerons. Not a true trainer plane because of the small size but I had no problems.

The PT-Electric was a much smaller airplane than the PT-40 and there would be no compatablity at all with the wings.

If powered with a fifty size can motor and a servo operated on/off switch as it was designed for then adding ailerons would be a mistake in terms of acceptable performance with the additional weight. The nosewheel on this airplane was fixed to avoid even a little extra weight.

There was a .25 sized version and I beleve it was called the PT-25. It was identical in dimension but used a heavier structure. The .15 conversion done to the 'E' mentioned by Maxx would not be a bad idea but agine ailerons would not be needed at all or desirable.

ECM-

I have a PT20 MK1 just like your plane, only smaller. I have a question regarding the way the rubber bands hold the wing on. The PT20 and 40 MK1 don't have balsa sheeting at the top, center of the wing (as can been seen in your picture). Is there enough support just from the wing spars to resist the force of the rubber bands? Especially in the rear half of the wing there is only covering up against the rubber bands.

In this link (and on my PT-40) there is an elongated front fin that I find very difficult to cover with the rest of the fin because of the sharp bend. But in your pic of the PT-40 above, ECM, the fin of your airplane is not elongated.

Is it my understanding (because you did it) that the elongated fin can be cut shorter to make it easier to cover without affecting its flight or control? Can that elimination of the longer fin front be done to all trainers or was your plane that way when you got it?
