I use CA for most things, but I would use epoxy in high stress areas like a firewall.

thin and medium CA will handle most balsa repairs, hardwood or ply then medium or slow epoxy is my choice. This is a subject where you can get a lot of different answers.

You need to use expoxy on firewalls. I would also recommend placing triangle stock behind the firewall to help keep it attached to the fuselage. I have seen several new ARFs crash because the firewall came loose due to lack of triangle stock. Either place triangle stock behind the firewall or insert 2 epoxied toothpicks through the fuselage into the firewall on both sides. One other thing, you can create a mixture of 50% epoxy and 50% rubbing alchohol to create a paste that you can paint on the firewall to help fuel proof it. Always use 30 minute or more epoxy. 5 minute dries to fast for me.

LOL

Thanks! I was planning to place some triangled pieces on the firewall already but I think I might add the tooth picks too.

Now this might open a big can of worms (opions) but which brand of epoxy seems to work the best? I know everyone will have their own favorites, but I just wanted to get an idea why you think one is better than the other.

If the name brand, super-duper-high-strength-indestructable epoxy costs $8 a bottle, and the no-name, garden-variety-seen-one-ya-seen-'em-all brand goes for $4 a bottle, I buy the no name.
