First Time Flyer Needing Help
 

I am a begginner to flying rc airplanes. Im getting my first rc airplane next week, im getting the " Parkflyers Cessna 182(electric)" and i have never flown an rc plane in my life, but i do race rc boats with friends and in some competitions, and i have a nitro rustler. So does anyone have any tips on flying this or any rc airplane, i dont have anyone to teach me to fly, so i have to try to teach myself...........[:o]

If you've done any reading here on RCU this may sound like a broken record, but I'm going to say it again anyway. Get an instructor. An instructor will save you so much frustrations and problems. While you have chosen a Park Flyer that is electric, it's still possible to crash and damage it while trying to teach yourself to fly. Using an instructor will keep that from happening. Plus, with an instructor the time that it takes you to learn to fly properly will be a lot less than if you try to teach yourself. Please consider finding an instructor.

Another factor to consider is that with your trying to teach yourself to fly, your radio signal may interfere with radios at the flying field located in your town. At least contact the local club so that you can insure that you are not within radio range of them.

I must second what RCKEN says.

In addition to this, the Cessna 182 is not really a 'trainer type' plane. If you MUST TEACH YOURSELF (not recommended ) you would be much better off with a Slow Stick or an Easy Star. Both of these planes will fly slower than the 182 and be much more stable. When you are learning to fly, slower is better.

One other thing. MANY (Most ) ELECTRIC TRAINERS do not like wind over 3 mph. This means that your flying is going to pretty much limited to early morning or early evening until you learn how to fly and develop your flying skills.

It is possible to start flying without an instructor, but it is hard! I was on the same situation as you, and i started with a trainer, now i fly sport planes, and i will fly 3d in a near future:) and i never had an instructor, and never crashed a plane... ok.. i had some bad landings, but no damage:) Try to get an instructor, if you can't, get a good simulator like i did, and spend a lot of hours on it. A simulator will help you with begginers mistakes, like invert controls, or abuse of sticks.
If you dont have an instructor or a simulator, dont try to fly! Even with your car/boat experiense you will crash your plane in seconds...
