Alpha RTF
Anyone have an Alpha trainer that has put a few hours on it?
I'm asking because I got one a while back to train my "students" on and have had nothing but good luck, and good times. (Well I did have to tighten the front LG screws once- they vibrated loose after the third flight). It starts easily with a backflip of the spinner, and has held up VERY WELL. It has seen it's fair share of 15G pull-ups and rough landings and IMHO has taken a fair amount of punishment better than a few we've had here. We've got a couple hours of run time and it can be started by everyone. Anyone care to comment? Jetts |
Alpha
I recently flew one on it's first flight. It took one click of r/ailaron to fly hands off. The studend(his plane) went forward rapidly. It's a really nice trainer and everything you say it is. I don't have anything neg. to say about it.

From my limited experience with the Alpha, I couldn't agree more with what you guys have said!
Perhaps 'the best' trainer???? (ARF that is) :) Jerry |
Alpha RTF
I am learning now on an Alpha.
It was overall a wonderful plane, until it met an unfortunate demise at very high speed with the ground. Not sure exactly what happened. Undaunted, I am 'in-line' to get a new Alpha plane (not the kit) any day now. Here are a few of my comments/experiences: - as mentioned earlier, continually check all screws- many will vibrate loose. - the engine runneth real strong! (and reliably) - it was hard to find the expensive 3-blade prop, so I switched to a 2 blade. This required removal of the unusual flywheel, but this only seemed to improve the performance of the engine. Did I mention that this engine just flat out runneth real strong! - I had a 'flutter' problem with the radio, which was fixed FOC by HH. - it is a real nice looking plane! - overall a great plane, and I think a good kit bargain at $309 (try pricing all compnents individually) Hope this helps, M |

Thanks for the input.
I broke the prop in the high grass, but replaced it with a two blade prop/spinner, 11X6, leaving the flywheel on. Make starting a lot easier for the "newbies". Jetts |
