CONVERTING GAS TO ELECTRIC
I am hoping to get a new kit (not for X-mas [:o]) but out of my tax refunds [sm=greedy.gif][sm=greedy.gif]. I am planning on converting a model (maybe something like a PT-25 or something similiar) to a electric-power, I will have a thread on it of course.
I already have a question: using the model mentioned here as an example, what power electric engine would be a good companion for a .25 size kit? Can basically all kits be converted to electric? What trainer would you recommend to be a good electric-convertion kit? Is there a convertion chart to determine what electric power replaces a gas engine? What power electric would I get to convert a .15? A .20 - .25? And how bout a .30 -.40? All opinions and suggestions welcome. Thank you and very merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year!!! |

Tiger
Head over to our sister site at http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/ There is a whole section on doing exactly what you are asking. It's owned by the same people that own RCU |
RE: CONVERTING GAS TO ELECTRIC
Any idea where that link is to that article? Could someone post the link here so I can go directly to it? Is there an article (thread) to help me in this site as well?

RE: CONVERTING GAS TO ELECTRIC
Check on E-Zone http://www.ezonemag.com/ They have a forum there on conversions from gas/glow to electric. If you don't find your model listed, ask.
Some things they will probably want to know are: Flying experience Building experience Will you be using LIPO batteries ? Do you want to use a brushed or brushless motor (Brushless is SUBTANTIALLY better ) What type of performance do you want ? How much do you want to spend ? |
RE: CONVERTING GAS TO ELECTRIC
Just go to the link I listed and look in the forum list for gas electric conversions. There is probably not one for your plane but you can ask. There is tons of knowledge there

RE: CONVERTING GAS TO ELECTRIC
exeter,
I am aware the two are different. If he checks out the thread I suggested he'll get all the info he needs and if he does need more all he has to do is ask |
