Servo Questions
I have all JR equipment and all of my servos are 537s. Can anyone tell me what the difference is in like the 537 vs. 8XX servos? I am assuming torque and perhaps size. Also I have been wondering will any servo (within reason) work with my jr700 receiver. I didn’t know if its like trying to put a GMC 350 intake on a FORD 302 motor.

Tfarmer,
You can use any servo with any receiver out there. You just need to make sure that the wiring of the servo is correct for your receiver. Look at the attached diagram to see the different wiring for the different radios. Hope this helps Ken |
RE: Servo Questions
Most servos with the exception of some older Airtronics stuff will work with any radio.
Here's a comparison chart http://www.fatlion.com/sailplanes/servochart.html but most of the time the differences are speed, torque, ball bearings and gear type (nylon, metal, or karbonite) |
RE: Servo Questions
RCKen,
If I switch the + and - wires will it reverse the direction of travel? Thanks, KW_Counter |
RE: Servo Questions
KW_Counter,
Not always. It could actually damage the servo in some brands. It's best to make sure that the polarity of the servo matches the output of the receiver. Refer to the chart I posted above. For example, if you have a Futaba receiver then you will want to make sure that the servo you are using is wired like a Futaba servo on the chart above. barracudahockey, Even most older Airtronics will work, but usually the polarity on the wiring is reversed from most brands today.
