How much vibration?

I just install and broke in an OS 40La on my Perfect trainer but the vibration & noise worries me, even there is no foam on the fuel the control surfaces moves side to side caused by the vibration. Is it normal during the breakin in? at very low rpms.

Vibration needs to be eliminated as best as possible. Check all your mounting screws for tightness. Pack your fuel tank with foam so the fuel does not foam up. If your control surfaces are moving, something is loose or your radio needs repairing. Another cause of vibration is a bad prop. Good Luck, Dave

Sounds like the vibration is REALLY excessive. First thing to look at is the prop. Important to balance it if you haven't. Most props are pretty close to good but I've had the occasional one that was way out of balance. Not sure how you would balance a spinner but that wuld be something to consider as well. Make sure all mount to firewall and motor mouunt bolts are secure. There are some pretty fancy mounts available (costly) but what I do is put a rubber washer that is about 1/8 " thick at each bolt between mount and firewall. FWIW

Balancing the prop is very important. I have lots of time on my O.S. .46LA and I have found it to be a good running engine. Are the control surfaces actually moving, or are they simply vibrating. Are you running the engine with the muffler? If yes, then the engine is making the normal amount of noise, and yes, they do make some noise.
