Help with mail order....
Well for some unknown reason to me the LHS doesn't carry Balsarite for film and I need to get it from Tower. With that said shipping is going to cost me $7.99 so what are some other things I can add to my order to make it worthwhile.....small things please I don't need another kit....:)

RE: Help with mail order....
What covering are you using that needs Balsarite? Neither Monokote or Ultracote needs any additional adhesive.

RE: Help with mail order....
Well... if your buying I could use a new YS-63:D
If you could give an Idea of what you have it would be easier to help... maybe an ESV? TACH? new glow driver?... lot's of goodies you could get. Have you asked your LHS if they would order it for you? may save you some head scratching;) John DR.1 I think I recommended the Balsarite... he's recovering his Avistar IIRC and had some fuel soaked areas... he did his best removing the oil from the wood but is still having some trouble getting the monokote stuck down. I've used balsarite for this very reason and it work GREAT. |

I haven't had much luck with it, Chuck. It's a "soft" adhesive and will let go if hit with a heat gun after sealing the edges. It's also messy. :)

Teepers, here are some helpful things:
Single edge razor blades (great for cutting balsa and covering) Voltmeter (with built in load for testing battery packs) Ball end allen wrenches Spare props |
RE: Help with mail order....
jsn is correct....I need it to be able to get the covering to stick to some areas that are fuel soaked....I tired everything to get the oil out but the covering still won't stick....
right now I've added a 22" sanding bar (have an 11"), 1" and 1 1/4" T-pins, 16oz of Balsarite, and 100 #11-blades. That's about $30 so I think I'm ok.... |

Spare glow plugs
"cross" wrench for plug/prop fuel pump, manual or electric Glow ignitor for plug foam to wrap rx and/or battery It would be easier if we knew what you had, of coursee. |
RE: Help with mail order....
Now I understand, Teepers. Not much will stick to oil-soaked wood. Have you used K2R on it yet? Do so before you try to recover. If the wood feels spongy, replace it.
As for what to get with your Balsarite? ESV, tach, ball end allen wrenches, set of drill bits, glow plugs, props, glow driver, prop wrench, lots of goodies. Dr.1 |

Since the Balsarite has to go ground anyway, order a gallon or two of fuel. Who can't use more of that?

RE: Help with mail order....
Fuel? At those prices plus shipping? You got to be kidding.

Teepers, you might also want to look at Tower's scratch & dent and daily sale links. There are frequently deals one can't live without.

RE: Help with mail order....
Think consumables..
Epoxy CA Fillers How about more covering for all those kits :) Extra servos Screws, nuts, bolts, blind nuts Call some friends and see if they need anything |
RE: Help with mail order....
I hang out with a group of guys and we always check with each other before we make an order to Tower to see if anybody needs anything. I'll pay the postage for them if I'm ordering, and then when it's their turn they pick up the tab. Check with your buddies and see what they need and treat them to a no postage order, and then next time you need something they can repay you.

RE: Help with mail order....
You might want to check out the Volt watch. I install them in all my new planes and they are an easy way to monitor your reciever pack in the plane. Check the LEDs before and after each flight and you know how the batterys are keeping up. They are not expensive either.

RE: Help with mail order....
Hey that voltwatch is a handy little item, I can't believe it's that cheap either, gotta have one!
|
RE: Help with mail order....
Since it saved one of my planes by suddenly lighting up the last Red LED I am convinced that "every plane" deserves to have one installed. [8D]
