EPA HOW TO

on the fw 190 im about to finish. ive got all the control rods set. the one problem i see is that the when the throttle is wide open the servo arm passes the wide open point and ends up bending the throttle rod. can i use epa to adjust this. and how would i. or should i try to move the connecting rod closer to the servo?

The first thing I always do is adjust the rod to try to not have to change the EPA. You can also use a shorter arm if need be.

If I must change the EPA, it is usually done in the radio.

We can help with that also but need to know what brand and model radio you have

its a hitech optic 6. would i just set the epa to a negative adjustment to cut travel short?

I'm not familiar with the hitec line of radios, I'll let someone chime in here.

If I had to guess it would seem to me to just lower the number. I know on JR radios it's at 100% and all I have to do is lower it.

Do it mechanically as much as possible, then finish it electronically. If you mess too much with the EPA electronically, then you will get a non-linear curve to the throttle position vs. stick position. This usually doensn't bother me too much, but if it's excessive, then it will definitely bother you.

If you're using a Hitec Optic 6 radio, you are probably using the Hitec servos too.

Use one of the adjustable length servo arms that comes with each servo and make the servo arm shorter.

Do this before you change the End Points in the transmitter.

Shorter servo arm = less pushrod throw distance which is what you need here.

It's all there in the manual for the radio system.

You did read the manual, didn't you?

you sposed to read them thangs!! i have futaba servos. ill try to move the rod in. i was hoping to avoid that cuz theres not much room in this 25 size. but it looks like adjusting the epa is more of a last step.

Yes, EPA is a last resort, get it right mechanically. I've got lots of .25 and smaller planes, shouldn't be a problem getting the right linkages.
