Plane Stand
Noobie here [X(] :D !
I'm looking for a plane/workstation stand. I've seen the Robart II Super Stand, but I'm not so sure what I think about the foam ends that come with that unit. It seems it would not be too durable for "field" use. It might be ok for the workshop though. Any real-world opinion on that model ? I could build one, it doesn't seem too difficult. But I was wondering if there's any stand out there that you guys favor over another. Obvisously light weight yet sturdy would be great [8D] . Thanks. Joe |
RE: Plane Stand
Build one out of PVC pipe. All of the qualities you want (light, strong, etc.) Put pipe foam insulation on it for padding, and be done with it. About a ten minute job with the right tools!
The foam ones are really for when you are working on/building an airplane. You can actually carve the foam some to fit the profile of the fuse. Very handy during a build, but even then I rarely ever use one. |
RE: Plane Stand
Here are two commercial units that I’ve seen that look pretty good
Ernst ultra stand, made of plastic, $10.99 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXE974&P=0 Cermark stand – I have this one and like it. It’s made of rubber-like material, costs about $19.95 http://www.cermark.com/Merchant2/mer...t_Code=RB-RACK I’ve seen different variations at the field that are similar to the Cermark but have no idea what brand they are. |
RE: Plane Stand
I like the Ernst Plane Stand. It works good.
