ORIGINAL: jaka Hi! The tank should be mounted in lots of soft foam...not the white stuff!. In a ARF the tank is mostly pushed in and forgotten... As for glowplugs forget the FOX idle-bar plug. Your engine will work much better if you use an OS 8 or Enya 3 glowplug. These are the two glowplugs that all sport engines will work good on. Of course there are other plugs too that are good but using one of these will make your engine run good for a long time. As for props start out with the 10x6. The 11x7 is way to large...do not use it! The 10x6 Master Airscrew isn't that good though (noisy and bad performance) There are other props that are much better, like APC, Kyosho, Graupner Cam-prop and RAM. Remember that the 10x6 prop isn't the ideal prop for all airplanes. For a high winged trainer a 11x5, 11x6 or 12x4 APC is the prop size to choose. My favorite prop on this size engine is the APC 11.5 x 4. It has a fat blade and loads the engine about right. I run it on my Pro 46 and 46 LA.

Last week I tested the TT46 out with a Hatori clone ... with a 9x8 I tached 15,500 RPM :) unfortunately the WM SS40 does not fly that fast so it was a waste of time. NOt bad for a 'cheap' engine. The 11x5 is a nice prop for 3D on this engine. I wish I could get a 11.5 x 4 here.

I have the world models SuperSports 40 as well with one of my TT .46s. Don't be fooled. It will fly fast. Put a 10x6 on it! Even though it has a large draggy looking wing it will scream! But doesn't hover as well on that prop as with the 11x4's. If you want even more power go to tower and buy the replacement muffler for their .46 at $15.

But as in most cases when you add power you add noise. So its a little louder than the stock exhaust. I still use my SS40 as a warm up plane before I fly my 1/4 scales. :) |

spyder - what i meant was the plane was not as fast as the prop was ... yeah the SS40 is a fast plane if you dial her in right, I fly mine slightly tail heavy and she will KE so right! The TT46 is really good on a 10x6, you can touch 13,500 RPM easy without a pipe.

tIANci, I suspect that your hot-humid tropical air is robbing your TT 46 of power. I have seen over 13,500 with an 11-6. A 10-6 should hit ~15,000+ in flight, which is great fun -- for a while. It beats hell out of the rear crank bearing if you keep it up. A 10-7 is somewhat easier on the engine & even faster

britbat - i know about the tropical climate ... humid and hot, not only do we not get the RPMs but also the prop and airfoil are less efficient. I have noticed a loss of about 15% compared with you guys. But funny enough at times I get the same RPMs when I checked with the TACH forum.
