Problem with Hydrimax battery
I have a question. I have the Hobbico Elite Accu-cycle charger and I am trying to charge a Hobbico Hydrimax receiver battery. It tells me there is an error when I try to charge it. I put the battery up to a voltmeter and I get no volts on the meter. The battery has three wires coming out of the battery. I do not know why. It has a white, red & black. Most batteries just have red and black. Has anyone ran into problems with this type of battery?

Nevermind.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Thanks , but I put it on a voltmeter and it gives me no reading. Why is there a white wire? Do you think the battery is bad? I just got it from Tower.
Thanks, |

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Yes, Yes I have checked that. I put my other battery on the voltmeter and it works. Guess you do not know why there is a white wire.

Thanks, but I know to match colors.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
1st question you asked.
I put the battery up to a voltmeter and I get no volts on the meter. The battery has three wires coming out of the battery. I do not know why. I gave you reasons or some things to check for. Most batteries just have red and black. Has anyone ran into problems with this type of battery? I have used about 5 of these batteries with no problem. I dont see anywhere asking a question about a white wire. I'm done here. Bye. |
RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
I do not know why you are getting so upset, but I have been working with NiCad batteries for years. I wanted to know of abnormal problems. Those you pointed out are if you were a beginner to batteries and charging them. I am not.

ORIGINAL: Manny5150 I do not know why you are getting so upset, but I have been working with NiCad batteries for years. I wanted to know of abnormal problems. Those you pointed out are if you were a beginner to batteries and charging them. I am not. Anyway, I have several HydriMax batteries with 3 wire leads. They all have the appropriate voltage on the red and black wires. I also have no idea why there's a white wire, but since the black and red are the ones that are supposed to carry the power, does it really matter? For grins, try all combinations of wires with your meter. If you get no voltage on any of them then there's a problem. It could be a dead battery, broken connection, or bad wire in the leads. Since you said you just got the battery from Tower, contact them for a replacement. |
RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
I guess that means you have nothing else to bring to this thread. What a waste!!! I want a solution.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Thanks Piper Chuck, I was going to contact Tower tomorrow. I do not know what is up with that other gentleman. I was justing thinking maybe I need another connection because of the other white wire. I have never seen a third wire on the lead.
Thanks for your response. At least we have some good providers to RCU. Thanks, |

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
I tried the battery on another charger and tried like you said Piper Chuck with the voltmeter again. No go. I bet the battery is just dead. I have not seen a battery with a third lead before and I thought that might be given me my problem. I will call Tower and discuss it with them.
Thanks, |
RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
If they do like usual they will send you a new one, perhaps with a postage paid label to return the bad one.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Yea, I just wanted this one to work so I can use it this coming weekend. Oh well... :D

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
The JR batteries I think they all have three leads one yellow, red, and black, the volt reading is between the red and black, I also have a Hobbico re cycler, I had to get a JR charging lead from our LHS to charge JR with Hobbico charger.

RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Ok thanks. I will ask Tower tomorrow if that is what I need. But, isnt the power coming from the red and white wires like Piper Chuck said?
Thanks for the suggestion and maybe that is my problem. |
RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
Manny, you been working with NiCad’s for years but the battery your asking about is not NiCad. Like piper said, since you’re in a beginner forum I was considering all possibilities. Also Since your probably an old man with a grumpy attitude (similar to the ones that come 7AM to the field, talk crap about everyone hoping people crash and critical about everything but yet don’t fly) I think you guys should be tested every year)., You may not be so "Technological oriented" with a new charger, I thought I may have helped with the charging since MAYBE all it needs is a charge.
I decided to put never mind in all the tips and help I gave you because you don’t deserve my time. |
RE: Problem with Hydrimax battery
I guess being 34 makes me a grumpy man? I am sorry, but I work for living and no I do not talk c@@p about people. Please, if you do not have something to offer do not response to my thread. You bring NOTHING to this thread. Go cause trouble somewhere else. You are wasting my time....
