Flight instructor HELP
 

Well after a horrendous crash Sunday a.m. filled with exploding balsa wood and 7 cell battery pack blowing through the fusealage[X(] I have decided to take a lesson. Anybody in Southeastern Ma who can instruct me in flying this thing would be greatly appreciated;) drop me an email

Sorry about your loss, welcome to the world of flying.

The two best sources of finding an instructor are the AMA club locator: http://www.modelaircraft.org/clubsearch.aspx or a local hobby shop. Most, but not all, clubs provide free instruction.

Closest AMA club appears to be about 17 miles from your zip code 02576. Please note this is the distance to the contact person, the field may actually be closer.

Check with your LHS and see if there is any other clubs closer if you wish but 17 miles isn't too bad really. How much did you just lose and the club training should have prevented that. Well worth the drive IMO. Many of us drive much further.

Most flyers take most of the summer to be competant enough to solo if you train on weekends. I compared with new flyers at our club and fuel wise, it averaged out to 1 1/2 gallons burned before they were ready to take the solo test. Take your time and have fun. [8D]

Are you a rated pilot and thought you could do it without help eh? I see this constantly here in Albuquerque. Even guys rated in the heavy commercials come out shooting their mouth off. They last less than one lap when the old control reversal comes into play.

No just an avid RCer looking to expand my horizons, I bought a Trainer with no ailerons and electric power, my problem this weekend was the wind I should not have been flying but I am impatient:D I have flown it but would like a better idea of what to do if I get into trouble so I can keep from splintering my plane;)

Having learned the hard way, a instructor is the only way to go. Good luck.
