RE: blind nuts
I have always epoxied my blind nuts, IMO you did the right thing.
Just be careful not to get any epoxy on the threads. |
RE: blind nuts
Yep, What Missleman said. Works great.

RE: blind nuts
did you epoxy the nuts in? If so yes

RE: blind nuts
I'm a bit more lazy.....after I install the nuts, I take a bit of CA medium on my fingertip and reach in and smear it around the edges of the nut, again being careful not to get the glue on the threads.

RE: blind nuts
You can also just hit the back of the nut with a drop of thin CA, or apply a drop medium CA to the nut flange before inserting. You really don't need much adhesive to set the nuts if the nut is inserted well. Use a bolt with washer to drive the barbs of the nut into the wood. The nuts seat better if you bevel the hole in the wood, i.e. look at a blind nut... note the fillet where the flange meets the body. You need to make room for the fillet otherwise the nuts never seat on the flange. I suppose you could over drill the hole, but I believe you get a better fit by beveling the hole. I never worry much about adhesive on the threads. I of course try to avoid that situation, but it is no big deal if it happens... that is what taps are for. Cheers.
